Students from across the state submitted artwork for the State Wide High School Juried Art Show. Hundreds entered but only a few won spots in the show. Gina Sherman with two pieces and Nora Boone with one piece won spots in the Shelby County Arts Council State Wide High School Juried Art Show and will now move onto competing against others who won spots across the state as well.

Sherman said, “We do a lot of different types of assignments in photography. I chose some of my more unique shots to submit. I was really surprised when I had artwork chosen, but I’m very honored.” Boone added, “I actually didn’t know I got it. Mrs. Schwartz congratulated me and I didn’t know what it was about. It’s so awesome. I’m double majoring in art and music so I’m hoping it will help my portfolio to get into the art program at Wesleyan College.”

The 2nd annual art show will be held November 13th, 2013. Gina Sherman and Nora Boone are both in Ms. Nabor’s advanced photography class. “I’m super proud of them; I wish them luck and hope they win in both of their categories!” Nabors says.

Congratulations Gina Sherman and Nora Boone and good luck in the show!
