This year in Mrs. Paula Hughes’ Aerospace Engineering class, the students worked on a project that tested the accuracy of the contraptions they created and tested. The task was to launch projectiles, such as marbles or golf balls, that will land in a box placed anywhere within a 15 foot range.

“The project is basically testing to see the accuracy of projectiles and using golf balls as fire,” said Blake S, junior.

The students had to complete written work and several calculations to accomplish their goal and get their launcher to work. The students also had to make videos of themselves trying to follow another student’s instructions.

“The best part was watching students’ faces when they watch the video of other students trying to follow their directions,” Mrs. Hughes added.

The project has now been successfully completed, and Mrs. Hughes’ worries of shooting a window out during testing are finally over!
