Oak Mountain Elementary geared up for the Hour of Code with an assembly prepared and led by Mrs. Northrup’s 3rd grade class. State Superintendent, Dr. Tommy Bice, was the special guest speaker. Students in Mrs. Northurp’s class contacted Dr. Bice , requesting for him to come take part in their morning activities as they prepared the school for the Hour of Code. He quickly accepted and presented an engaging speech that got the students excited about this opportunity. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science on what it means to read and write code for computer systems. All of the students, kindergarten through third grade, will have an opportunity to learn and practice coding.
