The 5 Best Thanksgiving Foods

Meredith Howell, Staff Writer

Thanksgiving is one part of the food holiday trifecta, and it would be a shame not to spotlight the best foods that make their annual appearance. The following dishes are possibly the most integral dishes for the holiday and just the beginnings of the feast.

5. Cornbread dressing

A classic that always makes an appearance at southern thanksgiving tables. Whether you like it or not, there is no denying that it is a special Thanksgiving treat.

4. Turkey

Now, here’s the most famous one of all. This bird is the spokesperson for Thanksgiving. It can be overcooked or perfect. The beauty of thanksgiving is that it will be eaten anyway.

3. Pecan pie

For those of you who don’t like pumpkin pie, here’s the dessert for you. With its gooey center, flaky crust, and sugared pecans that rise to the surface, what’s not to like?

2. Cranberry sauce

Depending on your tastes, cranberry sauce is either loved or hated, but, even so, no Thanksgiving meal is complete without it.

1.Mashed potatoes

The holy grail of Thanksgiving. Light and fluffy with probably too much butter and too much cream, a death note for lactose intolerance, but irresistible. This is undeniably deserving of the number one spot, on the table and in our hearts.
