Katie Crutchfield, a 2007 Oak Mountain graduate, was named as one of two Alabamians in Forbes Magazine’s Top 30 under 30. Katie and her twin sister, Allison Crutchfield, started the American Indie group, The Ackleys, while still in high school.

Katie and Allison have created two music groups together: The Ackleys, which lasted until the band members separated after high school, due to different college paths, and P.S. Elliot, lasting from 2007-2011, when the sisters decided to take separate paths in their music careers.

After splitting from her sister, Katie created the music project “Waxahatchee”. Currently, Katie has three albums and a North American/European tour scheduled for this year.

Mrs. Melissa Dixon, an English teacher at Oak Mountain who taught Allison Crutchfield during their high school band days said, “How cool is it to see our graduates go so far? We rarely hear from them after graduation, even though we know they will be successful. It’s amazing to be able to see all of their hard work pay off,” says Mrs. Dixon, “The girls are such an inspiration to our musician students, so many don’t get the chance to prove that they can become big artists.”
